About The Position
ELM Utility Services is seeking a Utility Locate Technician in the Manhattan, Montana area. This role involves providing a vital service to the community by marking underground utilities such as gas, electric, and communications systems to prevent excavation damage. Technicians use state-of-the-art technology and a proprietary software system for efficiency. The job is performed independently outdoors, utilizing a company-provided vehicle as a mobile office, with no need to report to a physical office daily. The role requires timely response to emergency calls and may involve periodic overtime and on-call rotation.
Requirements
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug, Motor Vehicle Record, and background check.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must comply with all Federal Department of Transportation regulations for Safety-Sensitive DOT positions.
- Use of Marijuana (medical or recreational) is prohibited.
Responsibilities
- Correctly, safely, and efficiently locate and mark underground utilities including electric and gas lines.
- Mark utility locations using marking paint, flags, and whiskers.
- Complete all necessary digital documentation and paperwork.
- Receive daily route and locate requests via a handheld smartphone.
- Respond to emergency calls in a timely manner.
- Work periodic overtime and weekend on-call rotation as requested.
