About The Position

ELM Utility Services is seeking a Utility Locate Technician in the Bozeman, Montana area. This role involves performing quality marking of underground utilities (gas, electric, communications, etc.) to prevent excavation damage. Technicians use state-of-the-art technology and a company-provided vehicle as their mobile office. The work ensures the maintenance and dependability of critical utility facilities that provide essential services to the community.

Requirements

• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug, Motor Vehicle Record, and background check.
• Must comply with all Federal Department of Transportation regulations for Safety-Sensitive DOT positions.
• Prohibition of marijuana use (medical or recreational).
• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Work independently outdoors utilizing a company-provided vehicle as a mobile office.
• Work a route of locate requests to be completed each day.
• Correctly, safely, and efficiently locate and mark underground utilities including electric and gas lines.
• Mark utility locations using marking paint, flags, and whiskers.
• Complete all necessary digital documentation and paperwork.
• Receive daily route and locate requests by logging in each morning from a handheld smartphone.
• Respond to emergency calls in a timely manner.
• Work periodic overtime and weekend on-call rotation as requested.
