About The Position

ELM Utility Services is seeking a Utility Locate Technician to work in the Three Forks, Montana area. This role involves providing a vital service to the community by marking underground utilities such as gas, electric, and communications systems to prevent excavation damage. Technicians use state-of-the-art technology and a proprietary software system for efficient operations. The position is unionized and offers paid training with company-provided equipment.

Requirements

• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug, Motor Vehicle Record, and background check.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must comply with Federal Department of Transportation regulations for Safety-Sensitive DOT positions.
• Prohibition of marijuana use (medical or recreational) due to federal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Locate and mark underground utilities, primarily electric and gas lines, using marking paint, flags, and whiskers.
• Complete all necessary digital documentation and paperwork.
• Receive daily route and locate requests via a handheld smartphone.
• Respond to emergency calls in a timely manner.
• Work a route of locate requests, utilizing a company-provided vehicle as a mobile office.
• Potentially locate communications or other facilities as directed by local management.
