About The Position

Bancroft is hiring a part-time Utility/Food Service Worker to support its school in Mountainside, New Jersey. The position works Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a stated pay range of $18–$20 per hour. The role assists with preparing and serving meals for students and persons served while maintaining food quality, nutrition, health, and safety standards. It also helps keep serving areas stocked and kitchen workspaces clean, supports appropriate food storage, and assists with food service for on-site events.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of prior experience in food preparation and serving.
• Ability to perform food preparation and serving while following detailed instructions.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and serving meals for students and persons served while ensuring food meets established quality, nutrition, health, and safety standards.
• Prepare food items according to menus and guidance from Food Services leadership, including salads, sandwiches, soups, starches, fruits, vegetables, and meats.
• Set up and maintain serving areas, arrange trays, stock food lines, and replenish items during meal service.
• Review daily production schedules to determine food quantities and preparation needs, and gather required ingredients, supplies, and equipment.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and clean and sanitize workstations, utensils, and tools according to health and safety standards.
• Store food and leftovers appropriately, following food-handling, storage, and refrigeration guidelines.
• Support food preparation and service for special events, meetings, conferences, and other on-site functions.
• Demonstrate reliability, teamwork, respect, professionalism, and commitment to quality service.
