Part Time - Utility/Food Service Worker
About The Position
Bancroft is hiring a part-time Utility/Food Service Worker to support its school in Mountainside, New Jersey. The role assists with preparing and serving meals for students and persons served, while meeting established quality, nutrition, health, and safety standards. The worker prepares menu items, sets up and replenishes serving areas, reviews production needs, operates kitchen equipment safely, and maintains clean and sanitary work areas. The position also supports food service for on-site events. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the pay range is $18–$20 per hour.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of prior experience in food preparation and serving.
- Ability to perform food preparation and serving while following detailed instructions.
Responsibilities
- Assist with preparing and serving meals for students and persons served in accordance with quality, nutrition, health, and safety standards.
- Prepare menu items such as salads, sandwiches, soups, starches, fruits, vegetables, and meats, following guidance from Food Services leadership and safe, sanitary practices.
- Set up and maintain serving areas, arrange trays, stock food lines, and replenish items during meal service.
- Review daily production schedules to determine preparation needs and quantities, and gather required ingredients, supplies, and equipment.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and clean and sanitize workstations, utensils, and tools in accordance with health and safety standards.
- Store food and leftovers appropriately, following food handling, storage, and refrigeration guidelines.
- Support food preparation and service for meetings, conferences, and other on-site functions.
- Demonstrate reliability, teamwork, respect, professionalism, and commitment to quality service.
