About The Position

The Utility Clerk performs general maintenance and cleaning duties while maintaining safety and sanitation standards for members and team members. The role gathers and returns carts and flatbeds from the parking lot to the club entrance, keeps carts clean and in working order, and maintains the cleanliness of club facilities and outdoor areas. The schedule is Thursday through Sunday between 1 p.m. and closing.

The Utility Clerk provides prompt, courteous member service; follows club policies and procedures; supports a safe, clean, and positive environment; and may perform other duties or work in other departments as needed. Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.

Requirements

• Successfully complete required training and certification processes.
• Be at least 18 years old to operate equipment and enter age-restricted areas; applicants younger than 18 may perform parking-lot cart functions.
• Meet the physical demands of the role, including frequently lifting up to 50 pounds and potentially lifting or moving heavier or awkward objects with assistance.
• Use a pallet jack to pull and push pallets.
• Work indoors and outdoors, with exposure to weather and occasional extreme temperatures in freezers and coolers.
• Frequently bend, climb, crawl, pull, reach, stoop, and climb ladders or step stools.
• Work with frequent exposure to company-authorized cleaning agents and occasional exposure to paint and company-authorized chemicals.

Nice To Haves

• Prior maintenance or janitorial experience is preferred but not required.
• Prior retail or wholesale experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide members with prompt and courteous service and assistance.
• Maintain safety and sanitation standards for members and team members.
• Clean club areas, including the sales floor, offices, restrooms, outdoor grounds, and parking lot.
• Gather and return carts and flatbeds from the parking lot to the club entrance; remove trash and debris from the parking lot, cart corrals, and exterior of the club.
• Keep carts stocked at the entrance, verify they are clean and working, and remove carts unsuitable for use.
• Return new and unused merchandise to the sales floor.
• Perform maintenance and cleaning tasks such as wet and dry mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, carpet extracting, washing glass, emptying trash receptacles, and pulling pallets.
• Maintain outdoor grounds, including cart corrals, sidewalks, and outdoor trash receptacles.
• Prioritize maintenance and cleaning responsibilities efficiently across the club.
• Safely operate the floor scrubber, trash compactor, and cardboard baler according to established safety standards.
• Restock maintenance and cleaning supplies and keep supply areas on the receiving dock and maintenance closets clean, neat, and organized.
• Perform minor and routine building repairs and notify management when major repairs may be needed.
• Maintain club policies and procedures and complete other assigned duties, including work in other departments as needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
