As a UX (User Experience) Designer I, you’ll help shape digital products that empower our customers and drive innovation in the industries Vermeer serves. You’ll grow quickly by collaborating across engineering, product, and aftermarket teams at Vermeer Labs, delivering designs that improve usability, reduce friction, and elevate customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in User Experience Design, Human‑Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous UX experience (internships/co‑ops welcome) with a portfolio showing problem framing, iterations, and outcomes.
  • Proficiency in user‑centered design principles; hands‑on with Figma or Adobe XD for wireframes, prototypes, and design specs.
  • Introductory research skills (moderated/unmoderated tests, observation, surveys) and the ability to translate insights into design changes.
  • Awareness of WCAG and inclusive design; willingness to learn accessibility testing methods (e.g., color contrast checks, keyboard navigation).
  • Clear, concise communicator who collaborates well and seeks feedback to improve outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Identify design problems and devise elegant, user-centered solutions that align with Vermeer’s values of innovation, agility, and customer focus.
  • Generate concepts, user flows, wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes using design tools such as Figma or Adobe XD.
  • Plan and execute basic usability tests; synthesize findings and iterate designs to improve task success, efficiency, and satisfaction.
  • Apply design thinking to map user journeys and address pain points, translating research into clear interaction patterns and information architecture.
  • Use and contribute to design systems and component libraries to ensure visual and interaction consistency across platforms.
  • Implement accessibility and inclusive design practices aligned to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG); document rationale and trade-offs.
  • Collaborate closely with developers; understand handoff requirements and fundamentals of HTML (HyperText Markup Language), CSS (Cascading Style Sheets), and JavaScript to support smooth delivery.
