Work location: Dallas Fort-Worth, TX (on-site) Scope: As an Export Specialist, ensure exportation of goods from the United States are following applicable U.S. Government rules and regulations and are successfully and promptly imported into the destination country. Job Summary: An Export Specialist is responsible for the management and oversight of international shipments, including but limited to document compliance and accuracy of data for the company’s outbound shipments from the United States. Experience and practical knowledge within the export compliance functions. Collaboration with external/internal service providers to ensure speed and compliance of exported products from CooperSurgical Inc. (CSI) in the U.S. The Export Specialist will follow the company’s international trade compliance policies, global logistics policies, and quality initiatives in all activities. The position will perform the responsibilities detailed below and other duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience at a minimum in US export compliance, including export documentation and recordkeeping.
  • Experience working with medical device companies.
  • Knowledge of maintaining trade master data in ERP systems and related databases.
  • Experience in maintaining positive relationships with internal customers and external vendors and consultants.
  • Strong computer skills are required with expertise in MS Office Suite such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel as well as other internet applications.
  • Good communication (verbal/written) and interpersonal skills are required to communicate and interact across all the company along with the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Must have the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Technical knowledge of trade compliance regulations and requirements.
  • Solid organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Detail-oriented and analytical with demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of the sensitivity around confidential company information.
  • Team oriented, possess a positive attitude and collaborate effectively with others.
  • Adapt to a changing environment and willingness to learn.
  • Proven knowledge and experience with incoterms, domestic air, international air, ocean freight, truck LTL, truck FTL, and international freight forwarders and small pack couriers.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Title 19 of the CFR and other governmental agency regulations and best practices.
  • Knowledge of U.S. and global laws on export sanctions-related denied party screening, embargo country management and similar.
  • Ability to liaison with internal customer service partners on export orders.
  • Complete required export documentation (commercial invoices, SLI’s, Certificates of Origin, etc.) on export shipments in time sensitive environment.
  • Work with customer arranged shipments and freight forwarders for timely coordination of shipment scheduling.
  • Experience in working in warehouse setting.
  • Examine and assess routed exports for accuracy and compliance.
  • Report any non-conformities or non- compliance findings discovered during assessments.
  • Assist in identifying potential trade compliance risks, evaluate impact and develop strategies to mitigate the risks effectively.
  • Monitor of Export controls, embargoed countries, and country specific sanctions.
  • Responsible for restricted party screening and reporting any denials.
  • Knowledge and ability to assist in U.S.HTS tariff classification, ECCN jurisdiction determination, and country of origin including preferential and non-preferential treatment under free trade agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with US government and corporate recordkeeping and retention guidelines.
  • Will support trade compliance team with other special projects and day-to-day operations tied to US export trade compliance.
  • Assists with any BIS, CBP and any other partner government agency on information requests.
