About The Position

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking a faculty member for the Division of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery. This division is recognized nationally and internationally for its excellence in urogynecology and pelvic reconstructive surgery. Physicians in this division provide a broad range of basic and specialized medical and surgical services related to complex pelvic floor disorders. The successful applicant will join a team of four fellowship-trained URPS faculty and three advanced practice providers. The faculty member will be actively involved with clinical and didactic teaching for the Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery fellowship program, which has been in existence for 6 years. The program is cross-disciplinary with fellowship-trained urologists, dedicated pelvic floor colorectal surgeons, among others, all contributing to the robust educational environment for our fellows. Clinical responsibilities include participating in the care of patients at the UW Health and Meriter Hospitals. Responsibilities include medical and surgical management of complex pelvic floor disorders as well as sharing call for urogynecology patients and consults. In addition, the candidate will continue to build an advanced sub-specialty practice. This position will include working with the Gynecologic Oncology (Gyn Onc) and Academic Specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ASOG) Divisions, assessing complex gynecologic disease. The faculty member will participate in opportunities for community service at the department, school, and institution levels appropriate to their tenure/CHS faculty rank. The faculty member will be an active participant in the clinical, research, and academic service in the Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery Division in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. They will be expected to have demonstrated an interest in clinical research and will be expected to initiate and participate in clinical research studies, as well as quality and outcome programs. Academic responsibilities include participation in teaching programs related to medical students, residents and fellowships. This will include responsibilities in the simulation lab, developing advanced skills and metrics for learners. The candidate is also expected to oversee the training of residents and fellows in the operating room, clinic, and inpatient unit. This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years. Applicants for this position will be considered for the following titles; Assistant Professor (CHS), Associate Professor (CHS), Professor (CHS); Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, Clinical Professor. The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.

Requirements

Completion of a four-year approved/accredited residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology (Ob/Gyn), Board certified or eligible (BC/BE).
Completion of a three-year board approved fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery (FPMRS)/ Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery URPS.BC/BE FPMRS/ URPS.
WI Medical license by the start date of the position.
Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges, by the start date of the position.
MD/DO required
Must be a citizen or national of the United States, a lawful permanent resident, or a foreign national authorized to work in the United States without the need of an employer sponsorship.
Proof of work authorization and eligibility to work.

Nice To Haves

Preferred candidate will have completed an approved fellowship in FPMRS/URPS and have significant experience with pelvic floor surgery.
Preferred candidate will have a track record as an accomplished academic urogynecologist.
For an appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on CT or CHS track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS or CT track.

Responsibilities

Participate in the clinical services initiatives of the UW Health System.
Provide a broad spectrum of specialized urogynecologic care and oversee the continuation and development of clinical niches and focus areas.
Participate in the direct supervision and training of faculty, fellows, residents, and medical students.
Collaborate with faculty colleagues from obstetrics and gynecology, urology, colorectal surgery, and GI medicine to advance the Integrated Specialty Care for Women program.
Participate in the care of patients at the UW Health and Meriter Hospitals.
Medical and surgical management of complex pelvic floor disorders.
Sharing call for urogynecology patients and consults.
Continue to build an advanced sub-specialty practice.
Work with the Gynecologic Oncology (Gyn Onc) and Academic Specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ASOG) Divisions, assessing complex gynecologic disease.
Participate in opportunities for community service at the department, school, and institution levels appropriate to their tenure/CHS faculty rank.
Be an active participant in the clinical, research, and academic service in the Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery Division in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Initiate and participate in clinical research studies, as well as quality and outcome programs.
Participate in teaching programs related to medical students, residents and fellowships.
Responsibilities in the simulation lab, developing advanced skills and metrics for learners.
Oversee the training of residents and fellows in the operating room, clinic, and inpatient unit.
Participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health.
Working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.
