About The Position

This is an ongoing coverage need for an Urgent Care NP/PA position. The role involves providing care across three different clinic sites: Brentwood, Mt Lebanon, and Pleasant Hills. Providers will see patients of all ages and must be comfortable performing various procedures including orthopedic procedures, splinting, wound care, suturing, I&Ds, interpreting x-rays and EKGs, and drawing blood/IVs. High acuity patients will be referred to the local ER. Sites are staffed with 1-3 providers per day, with remote physician availability for escalation if needed. The position is for full-time coverage, averaging 20 shifts per month, with an average of 3-4 patients seen per hour. The EMR system used is EPIC, and credentialing takes approximately 90 days.

Requirements

• Active Pennsylvania licensure
• Board certification
• AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
• Minimum 2-years Urgent Care or 1-year Emergency Medicine experience or equivalent
• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics) OR Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program
• Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in Pennsylvania OR Active and unencumbered physician assistant (PA) license in Pennsylvania
• National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP]) OR National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
• Must be within a 2-3 hour radius of the clinic sites

Nice To Haves

• 1-year experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty (preferred for locum APP positions)

Responsibilities

• See patients of all ages
• Perform orthopedic procedures including splinting and wound care
• Work independently with no supervision
• Suturing, wound care, I&Ds, splinting, x-rays, EKGs, drawing blood/IVs
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests
• Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
• Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices
• Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
• Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
