About The Position

This is an ongoing coverage need for an Urgent Care NP/PA position. The role involves providing care in Princeton and Beckley, with sites no more than 30 minutes apart. The practice setting is an Urgent Care Clinic. The provider will see patients from 6 months to adult, handling a variety of conditions including cold/flu symptoms, rashes, abrasions, lacerations, sprains, minor burns, splinting, x-rays, EKGs, and I&Ds. High acuity cases will be referred to the local ER. The average patient load is 20 patients per day (PPD), equating to 3-4 patients per hour. Clinic staffing includes 1-3 providers per day. A remote physician will be available for escalation if no physician is onsite. The patient population is 80% adult and 20% pediatrics. The EMR system used is EPIC. Credentialing is expected to take 90 days.

Requirements

  • Active West Virginia licensure
  • Board certification
  • AHA BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications
  • Minimum 2-years Urgent Care or 1-year Emergency Medicine experience or equivalent
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics) or Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program
  • Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in West Virginia or Active and unencumbered physician assistant (PA) license in West Virginia
  • National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP]) or National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • At least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty

  • Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
  • Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
