About The Position

Seeking an Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) for ongoing coverage. This is a long-term permanent search for a provider to work in an Urgent Care Clinic with locations in Richmond, Midlothian, and Glen Allen. The role involves managing a high patient volume, averaging 25-50 patients per day, with patient volume varying by clinic. The position offers 12-hour shifts, three times per week, from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, serving patients of all ages. The clinic utilizes the EPIC EMR system. Credentialing is expected to take 60-90 days.

Requirements

  • Active Virginia licensure
  • Board certification
  • AHA BLS certification
  • Minimum 1-year Urgent Care experience or equivalent
  • Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in Virginia (for NPs)
  • National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP]) (for NPs)
  • Active and unencumbered physician assistant (PA) license in Virginia (for PAs)
  • National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) (for PAs)
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics) (for NPs)
  • Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program (for PAs)
  • Strong clinical knowledge and assessment skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients
  • Proficiency in performing physical examinations and procedures relevant to their specialty
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to diagnose and manage complex medical conditions
  • Time management skills to efficiently manage a patient workload
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a healthcare team

  • X-ray interpretation
  • EKG interpretation
  • Epitaxis management
  • Cerumen impaction removal
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
  • Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices
  • Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
  • Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
