About The Position

The Upholsterer/Upholstery Restoration position provides support for organizational-, intermediate-, and depot-level tasks on Presidential Helicopter platforms in accordance with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP), applicable technical data, and federal contract requirements. The role supports VH-92A, VH-3D, and VH-60N aircraft, test aircraft, and other aircraft periodically hosted by PMA-274. The position repairs and rebuilds upholstered aircraft furnishings, seats, insulation and soundproofing panels, carpets, and other fabric or specially shaped items. Work includes removing and replacing coverings, webbing, padding, and springs; measuring and cutting covering material; sewing seams and joining sections; attaching decorative trim; and repairing wooden frames. The upholsterer also performs aircraft maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and modifications; interprets technical documentation; records maintenance actions; and follows tool-control, foreign-object-debris (FOD), safety, and quality requirements. This is a full-time, onsite position in Patuxent River, Maryland. It requires Top Secret clearance with Yankee White access and a CAC. Employment is contingent upon contract award, funding, background investigation, and clearance eligibility. The stated compensation is $31.27 per hour plus $5.09 H&W.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least three years of experience performing tasks listed in the position description.
Working knowledge of publications, drawings, blueprints, microfilm, diagrams, and schematics; military applications are preferred.
Working knowledge of upholstery, sewing processes, and products.
Ability to work day, swing, or mid shift as required.
Top Secret clearance with Yankee White access and a CAC are required.
Ability to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation, including lifting up to 50 pounds; standing and walking for extended periods; bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in confined or elevated spaces.
Sufficient manual dexterity and vision to use tools and inspect aircraft systems.
Ability to work in high-noise environments, wear required PPE, and work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

Five or more years of aviation maintenance experience.
Three or more years of maintenance experience on VH-92A, VH-3D, VH-60N, or similar aircraft.
Military applications experience with publications, drawings, blueprints, microfilm, diagrams, and schematics.

Responsibilities

Perform complex aircraft maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and modifications.
Inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and modify upholstered aircraft furnishings.

Interpret technical manuals, drawings, and directives.
Document maintenance actions in aircraft logs and approved maintenance systems in accordance with NAMP requirements.
Ensure compliance with Tool Control, FOD, safety, and quality programs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
