About The Position

The Aircraft Painter provides organizational-, intermediate-, and depot-level support for Presidential Helicopter platforms in accordance with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP), applicable technical data, and federal contract requirements. The position supports VH-92A, VH-3D, VH-60N, test aircraft, and other aircraft periodically hosted by PMA-274. The role performs surface preparation, treatment, painting, coating, and finishing on aircraft components, small aircraft surface areas, panels, support equipment, and other items. Work includes applying paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin, primers, topcoats, and other materials using brushes, rollers, spray guns, and other devices; masking surfaces; and applying vinyl graphics. The painter interprets technical manuals, drawings, and directives and documents maintenance actions in aircraft logs and approved systems in accordance with NAMP requirements. The position is full-time and onsite in Patuxent River, Maryland. It requires Top Secret clearance with Yankee White access and a CAC. Work may be scheduled on day, swing, or mid shift as required. Employment is contingent upon contract award, funding, background investigation, and clearance eligibility.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least three years of experience as a paint technician, including painting, maintenance, and finish work.
Top Secret clearance with Yankee White access and a CAC are required.
Ability to work day, swing, or mid shift as required.
Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation, including lifting up to 50 pounds; standing and walking for extended periods; bending, kneeling, and climbing; and working in confined or elevated spaces.
Sufficient manual dexterity and vision to use tools and inspect aircraft systems.
Ability to work in high-noise environments, wear required PPE, and work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

Seven or more years of aviation experience.
Three or more years of experience with VH-92A, VH-3D, VH-60N, or similar aircraft.

Responsibilities

Perform aircraft and component surface preparation, coating, and finishing.
Conduct chemical stripping of paints and primers.
Perform abrasive blasting on ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
Prepare surfaces through sanding, grinding, mechanical abrasion, and acid etching.
Apply primers, topcoats, epoxy coatings, lacquer, resin, and other coatings using suitable tools and equipment.
Mask and cover portions of surfaces that are not to be painted.
Precisely apply vinyl graphics to multiple surfaces, including aircraft.
Interpret technical manuals, drawings, and directives.
Document maintenance actions in aircraft logs and approved maintenance systems in accordance with NAMP requirements.
Ensure compliance with Tool Control, FOD, safety, and quality programs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
