About The Position

The Universal Banker provides retail banking services and products to customers, handles customer transactions, and verifies the completeness of retail banking transactions. The role also develops business opportunities with current and potential customers by identifying customer needs and connecting them with appropriate banking products and staff. This position floats to bank locations in the Delta Region of Mississippi as needed. Travel from the employee’s home base location to other bank locations is expected, and reliable transportation is required. Mileage for work-related travel is reimbursed.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
One to two years of experience in banking or a related field is required.
Reliable transportation for travel between the home base and other bank locations.
Proficient alphanumeric data-entry skills.
Demonstrated accountability, accuracy, active listening, conceptual thinking, confidentiality, community-development commitment, critical thinking, attention to detail, ethical conduct, integrity, and respect.
Ability to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to work on a Saturday rotation schedule.

Nice To Haves

Post-secondary certificate or degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business; relevant experience may be considered.
Three to five years of experience in banking or a related area.
Notary certification.

Responsibilities

Provide efficient, tactful customer service and perform paying and receiving teller functions.
Safeguard cash and cash equivalents in the employee’s possession.
Receive and process night deposit bags; open, balance, and replenish ATMs as assigned.
Sell and process gift and travel cards, maintaining the related log and inventory.
Rent safe deposit boxes and admit customers to the safe deposit vault.
Initiate and follow up on research requests, and assist with teller balancing as needed.
Work on a Saturday rotation schedule.
Sell, service, and cross-sell deposit accounts, loan products, transaction accounts, safe deposit boxes, and other bank products and services.
Identify customer financial needs, explain available alternatives, and refer customers to appropriate staff to support new business development.
Open accounts and prepare the required documents.
Research and resolve customer problems, coordinating with other bank departments when necessary.
Initiate customer wire transfers and debit card disputes.
Assist customers with check orders and related inquiries, and issue starter debit cards.
Provide relief coverage for stations to accommodate lunch and break periods.
Receive, sort, and forward incoming mail; prepare memos, correspondence, reports, and other documents; and perform related clerical work such as photocopying, faxing, and filing.
Assist with basic checking and internet account inquiries unless the request requires a substantial amount of time.
Open and close the visitor area and keep the hospitality area neat, clean, and stocked with customer information.
Ensure compliance with applicable federal banking regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC, Community Reinvestment Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Right to Financial Privacy Act, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, and Federal Reserve regulations.
Represent Guaranty Bank & Trust Company professionally, efficiently, and tactfully; greet and acknowledge customers, use their names, offer additional assistance, and thank them.
Develop professional relationships with management and colleagues and follow bank policies and procedures.
Answer and assist incoming callers, route calls as appropriate, receive visitors, and direct them appropriately.
Work overtime as needed, assist other departments, and perform other assigned duties.
