About The Position

Under general supervision, the Unit Secretary provides clerical support to the nursing unit and helps promote an organized and positive unit culture. The role is with St Rita's Thoracic and Vascular Surgery at MHP Lima Specialty Care, with the posting also identifying the Lima Medical Office Building at 830 W High.

The Unit Secretary provides customer-focused support to internal and external callers, addresses caller problems and requests, schedules discharge follow-up appointments, assists with recording traumas and codes, and performs other administrative or clerical duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school degree or GED.
• Problem-solving skills and basic computer skills.
• Typing speed of 25 words per minute.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to engage professionally with staff and patients.
• Ability to be proactive in a rapidly changing environment.

Nice To Haves

• Prior healthcare clerical work.
• Training in EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR).

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve caller problems and specific requests in a timely manner.
• Prioritize and navigate internal and external calls promptly and respectfully, providing excellent customer-focused service to internal customers and the community.
• Schedule discharge follow-up appointments.
• Assist in recording traumas and codes within the facility.
• Perform other administrative or clerical duties and projects as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Conduct oneself in a way that promotes an organized and positive culture on the nursing unit.
