About The Position

The Unit Assistant serves as the primary point of contact for the clinical area, welcoming patients professionally and routing communications between families and care teams. The role supports an efficient patient journey by scheduling appointments and consultations, assists physicians with software navigation and clinical documentation workflows, and maintains patient charts and departmental files. The Unit Assistant also coordinates office logistics, including staff schedules, timekeeping, meetings, and meeting minutes. The position is part-time on an evening schedule at Ascension St. Vincent's St. Johns Hospital in St. Johns, Florida.

Requirements

• High school diploma equivalency or one year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience.
• BLS Provider certification is preferred; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certifications are accepted.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for the clinical area and provide a professional welcome to patients.
• Route communications between families and care teams.
• Schedule appointments and consultations to support timely and efficient care.
• Support physicians with software navigation, including order entries, patient transfers, and discharge documentation.
• Assemble patient charts and manage departmental files and correspondence.
• Coordinate staff schedules and manage timekeeping systems.
• Oversee meeting requirements and prepare meeting minutes.
