About The Position

Sunbelt Rentals is seeking a Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on rental equipment in a safe and effective manner to minimize downtime. The fleet varies by location and primarily includes aerial work platforms, general construction tools, and equipment. Specialty-lines locations may also have large-scale power generators, pumps, HVAC systems, and oil and gas-related equipment. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of equipment makes and models, build skills, and pursue a career track in service or operations management. The position is in a safety-focused environment and may require providing mechanic’s tools of the trade. Physical demands include bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, lifting 50 pounds or more, and working indoors or outdoors as required. The hourly wage is determined by the agreed rate under the collective bargaining agreement for the location.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.
Advanced knowledge of hydraulic systems and troubleshooting skills.
Advanced knowledge of electrical systems and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
May need to provide mechanic’s tools of the trade.
Bilingual ability in Spanish or another language may be required based on location needs.

Nice To Haves

Some trade school or equivalent training is desired.
Three to five years of mechanic experience with similar diesel equipment, heavy equipment, or specialty-lines equipment such as large-scale generators, pumps, HVAC, or oil and gas equipment is strongly preferred.
