About The Position

Under the direction of the AVP, Underwriting, the Underwriting Intern will gain an in-depth understanding of the insurance industry through on-the-job training and meaningful assignments. The intern will develop technical and professional skills related to the assigned position, collaborate on projects, and perform other duties supporting business strategies. Berkley Professional is an operating unit of W. R. Berkley Corporation that provides customized coverage solutions and claims servicing in the management liability marketplace. Its capabilities include Financial Institutions and Transactional Liability underwriting.

Requirements

Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Knowledge of and proficiency with Microsoft Professional products and Internet search capabilities.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and adapt communication style to the situation.
Strong organizational skills, integrity, and follow-through; ability to remain calm under pressure and work collaboratively.
Strong customer-service orientation and responsiveness, with the ability to decline requests while preserving relationships.
Curiosity and interest in learning how things work and identifying improvements.
Open-mindedness, respect for team members, and an inclusive approach to achieving common goals.
Ability to achieve results by setting goals, prioritizing tasks, and remaining accountable to stakeholders.
