About The Position

Undergraduate research assistants are students who, in the course of their academic training, are employed in part-time research positions, where the student's academic training is based in part on the research performed. This role involves assisting with data collection, data management, and/or data analysis of human fitness measures. The position also includes teaching exercise classes, implementing paperwork protocols, assisting with equipment upkeep, maintaining communication with faculty, and providing educational presentations. The student employee will represent professional staff when they are not on site.

Requirements

  • Classified as an undergraduate student at the University of Central Oklahoma.
  • Must have current CPR Certification or ability to obtain certification within 90 days.

  • Pursuing their B.S. in Exercise Fitness Management in the College of Education and Professional Studies.
  • Have sensitivity of intercultural communication.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience.
  • Ability to solve problems and provide solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with data collection, data management, and/or data analysis of human fitness measures.
  • Teach exercise classes, in accordance with evidence-based exercise guidelines.
  • Implements correct paperwork protocols for patrons and ensure paperwork is securely stored.
  • Assist with upkeep and organization of equipment and supplies used for the exercise classes and exercise testing.
  • Maintains close communication with VPKHS faculty.
  • Providing educational presentations in the field of health and wellness.
  • Represent professional staff when the staff is not on site.
