UG Research Assistant (Student) (FWS)

About The Position

This position is available only to enrolled American University students. Most student positions at American University are eligible to use Federal Work Study (FWS) awards, with a few exceptions. FWS funds cannot be applied to janitorial, construction, partisan or sectarian positions. This student will support the Antiracist Research & Policy Center (ARPC) "Chocolate City Speaks" oral history project and the ARPC’s COUNTERNARRATIVES oral history project. They will collaborate both with the ARPC director and the ARPC’s contracted expert in the oral histories that we are studying.

Requirements

  • Student must have an active Federal Work Study (FWS) award.
  • This position is available only to enrolled American University students.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting background research on minoritized populations in DC and the effects of gentrification on those populations.
  • Working with the contracted expert to locate and schedule ethnographic interviews with key artistic and political figures in a range of pre-gentrification minoritized communities.
  • Working with the contracted expert and director to record, store, and promote the oral histories.
