UG Research and Teaching Assistant (Student)

About The Position

This student position will support the Antiracist Research & Policy Center (ARPC) “Sonia Sanchez Social Justice Scholars (SSSJS)” program and the ARPC’s Affiliate Expertise initiative. They will work directly with the ARPC director. This position is available only to enrolled American University students. Most student positions at American University are eligible to use Federal Work Study (FWS) awards, with a few exceptions. FWS funds cannot be applied to janitorial, construction, partisan or sectarian positions. Requirements

  • Must be an enrolled American University student.
  • Must be able to work 5 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the ARPC director’s instruction of the 2026-2027 cohort of SSSJSs.
  • Communicate with the scholars in order to ensure that they are on task and supported in each of their assignments and outputs.
  • Support the promotion of the program and its final products.
  • Communicate with ARPC faculty affiliates in order to promote and support their research and expertise on their topics.
