About The Position

Ryder is hiring a non-CDL truck driver in Concord, California. The position pays $23.50 per hour, with weekly pay and approximately 40 hours per week. The schedule is Wednesday through Sunday, starting at 6:00 PM. Drivers work solo on local routes in the Bay Area, Monterey, and Napa County, and return home daily. The work involves touch freight and loading and unloading newspaper inserts. The vehicle is a 26-foot straight truck. Ryder provides paid training and training on the equipment needed for the role.

Drivers operate well-maintained trucks that are 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and access to fueling at more than 800 maintenance locations nationwide. The position emphasizes safe driving, compliance with applicable regulations, customer service, and ongoing training.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Have at least 6 months of verifiable driving experience, meeting one of these experience windows: 6 months in the past 3 years, 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• For positions operating a straight truck or box truck, have verifiable experience in like equipment.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Have a valid driver's license.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a vehicle while complying with safety regulations, continuous training requirements, and customer service expectations.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records.
• Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading when required by the customer.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
