About The Position

Walmart is hiring a regional over-the-road truck driver for its Reno/Sparks, Nevada facility, serving the Western U.S. Regional drivers can earn up to $110,000 in their first year and receive weekly home time with consecutive days off each week. Drivers are paid per mile, with additional activity pay for certain duties and an Average Daily Pay rate of $240 in specified circumstances. Actual pay may vary by location and miles driven. The driver plans daily work, sets priorities, communicates with the team, and adapts to changing road or operational conditions to move freight safely and on time. The role operates a tractor-trailer, conducts inspections before, during, and after trips, keeps paperwork and electronic logs accurate, complies with DOT, state, and company requirements, and follows optimized routes, traffic laws, and local restrictions. Drivers are expected to uphold Walmart’s standards for safety, integrity, and professionalism. The assigned facility is at 2195 U.S.A. Parkway, Sparks, Nevada 89434-5603. Drivers must live within 250 miles of the facility or establish a permanent residence within that distance within 90 days of hire or transfer, and must maintain that residence as a condition of employment. Walmart maintains a drug-free workplace and prohibits illegal drug and alcohol use on the job.

Requirements

Hold an Interstate (Class A) Commercial Driver’s License with a Hazmat endorsement and cleared background check, or obtain the endorsement with cleared background check within 120 calendar days of hire.
Have at least 30 months of full-time Class A tractor-trailer driving experience in the previous three years, or successfully complete the Walmart Fleet Development Academy Program.
Have no more than two moving violations while operating a personal or commercial motor vehicle in the last three years.
Have no serious traffic violations while operating a personal or commercial motor vehicle in the last three years.
Have no preventable collisions while operating a personal or commercial motor vehicle in the last three years.
Have no preventable DOT-recordable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last ten years.
Have no preventable accident resulting in a fatality or catastrophic injury in personal or commercial driving history.
Live within 250 miles of the assigned facility, or establish a permanent residence within that distance within 90 days of hire or transfer, and maintain it.
Comply with Walmart’s drug-free workplace policy.

Responsibilities

Plan the workday, set priorities, and coordinate with the team to keep freight moving safely and on time.
Communicate clearly, solve problems, and adapt to changes on the road or in the operational plan.
Complete required paperwork and electronic logs accurately and follow DOT, state, and company guidelines.
Safely operate a tractor-trailer and inspect it before, during, and after each trip.
Follow optimized routes, traffic laws, and local restrictions to reduce delays and support on-time delivery.
