About The Position

Goodwill Industries of Tenneva is a mission-driven social enterprise dedicated to changing lives through the power of work. Through our retail stores, workforce development programs, and community partnerships, we provide employment services and career opportunities to individuals throughout Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. Our transportation team plays an important role in keeping donations moving between homes, businesses, donation centers, stores, and warehouse locations. These donated goods help generate the revenue that supports Goodwill’s employment, training, and community-based programs. We’re looking for a dependable and safety-focused Truck Driver (Non-CDL) to join our team. The Truck Driver is responsible for completing scheduled donation pickups and deliveries while safely operating a non-CDL straight truck. This position handles donated goods, maintains route documentation, conducts vehicle inspections, and provides excellent service to donors, customers, and Goodwill team members. The role is physically active and involves frequent lifting, loading, unloading, and travel between Goodwill locations and community pickup sites.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to meet Goodwill’s vehicle insurance requirements.
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical and maintain a valid DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
  • Previous driving, delivery, or transportation experience preferred.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Dependable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to frequently lift and move items weighing 50 pounds or more.
  • Ability to work in warehouses, loading docks, retail locations, donation centers, and outdoor weather conditions.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a non-CDL straight truck.
  • Complete residential and commercial donation pickups and deliveries.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Load, unload, secure, and transport donated goods.
  • Lift and move items weighing 50 pounds or more.
  • Maintain accurate route logs and required documentation.
  • Provide friendly and professional service to donors and customers.
  • Communicate with warehouse, store, and donation center teams.
  • Assist with sorting or staging donations as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized truck and cargo area.
  • Follow all company safety policies, traffic laws, and applicable DOT requirements.
