About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL solo regional truck driver based in Canastota, New York. Drivers deliver freight to Georgia, Nebraska, and Canada, with occasional routes to Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Ohio. The position pays weekly, with average weekly pay of $1,984 or more and top earners making $2,300. Compensation includes $0.69 per mile for 2,200–2,600 miles per week, $23.07 per stop for 10–12 stops per week, $27.87 per night in per diem for 2–3 nights out per week, and a $2,000 loyalty bonus paid half at six months and half at one year. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with a start time between 3:00 AM and 5:00 AM. Drivers operate a sleeper tractor and a 53-foot dry van. Freight involves light touch, consisting of unsecuring the load only. Ryder trains drivers on the equipment needed for the job and provides well-maintained trucks that are 36 months old or newer, 24/7 roadside maintenance, and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have verifiable Class A experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load or unload freight, or assist with loading or unloading if required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
