About The Position

Join Walmart’s growing private fleet as a Class A CDL driver and help deliver freight safely and on time. The position offers competitive pay for miles driven and qualifying activities, predictable schedules, weekly home time, consecutive days off each week, and modern equipment. Regional drivers may earn up to $110,000 in their first year. Drivers plan their workday, prioritize tasks, communicate with their team, solve problems, and adapt to changing road or delivery conditions. They complete paperwork and electronic logs, follow applicable regulations and company guidelines, inspect and safely operate their tractor-trailer, and use optimized routes to support on-time delivery. The assigned facility is in Shelbyville, Tennessee, and drivers must live within 250 miles of it or establish a permanent residence within that distance within 90 days of hire. Pay includes a mileage rate of $0.55–$0.69 per mile, activity pay for specified duties, and Average Daily Pay of $240 in qualifying circumstances. Actual pay may vary by location and miles driven.

Requirements

Hold an Interstate Class A Commercial Driver’s License with a Hazmat endorsement and cleared background check, or obtain the endorsement and cleared background check within 120 calendar days of hire.
Have at least 30 months of full-time Class A tractor-trailer driving experience within the previous three years, or successfully complete the Walmart Fleet Development Academy Program.
Have no more than two moving violations while operating a personal or commercial motor vehicle in the past three years.
Have no serious traffic violations while operating a personal or commercial motor vehicle in the past three years.
Have no preventable collision while operating a personal or commercial motor vehicle in the past three years.
Have no preventable DOT-recordable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the past ten years.
Have no preventable accident resulting in a fatality or catastrophic injury in personal or commercial driving history.
Live within 250 miles of the assigned facility or establish a permanent residence within 250 miles within 90 days of hire; maintaining this residence is a condition of employment.
Maintain a drug-free workplace and comply with Walmart’s policy prohibiting illegal drugs and alcohol on the job.

Responsibilities

Plan the workday, set priorities, and coordinate with the team to keep freight moving safely and on time.
Communicate clearly, solve problems, and adapt to changes on the road or in the plan.
Accurately complete required paperwork and electronic logs and follow DOT, state, and company guidelines.
Safely operate the tractor-trailer and inspect it before, during, and after each trip.
Follow traffic laws, local restrictions, and optimized routes to reduce delays and improve on-time delivery.
