About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL truck driver for a local shuttle route from Charlotte, North Carolina, to Roanoke, Virginia. The driver operates solo and returns home daily. The work uses a day-cab tractor and 48- or 53-foot flatbed trailers, hauling touch freight such as steel and metal. Automatic-transmission restrictions are accepted. The schedule is Sunday through Thursday, starting at 11:00 PM, with 50 or more hours per week. Pay is $29.84 per hour, with weekly pay advertised as $1,641.20 or more. A quarterly tenure bonus of $300 is available, along with paid training.

Ryder provides well-maintained trucks, 24/7 roadside maintenance, and fueling at more than 800 maintenance locations. Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test, background and motor vehicle check, DOT physical, and Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Have at least 6 months of flatbed experience.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
• Undergo any additional screening required for the position, which may include employment and education verification, a motor vehicle records check, a road test, and/or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect, eliminate, or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading when required by the customer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
