About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class B CDL Truck Driver in Shreveport, Louisiana, to make local deliveries to Shreveport and surrounding areas. The position is a solo route with daily home time, delivering HVAC equipment in a 26-foot straight truck. Freight is touch freight, and the driver unloads only. The role requires a Hazmat endorsement.

The schedule is Monday through Friday, starting at 7:00 a.m., with 40 or more hours per week. Pay is $24.64 per hour, averaging $985 weekly, and paid training is provided. Drivers operate well-maintained trucks that are 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling available at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position, including a Hazmat endorsement.
• Have verifiable Class A or Class B experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
• Some positions may require additional screening, which may include employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check and road test, and/or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Load or unload freight, or assist with loading or unloading if required by the customer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
