About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class B CDL Truck Driver based in Spanaway, Washington. This regional route is delivered solo, with Monday and Tuesday routes to Eastern Washington and Wednesday and Thursday routes to Seattle and the surrounding area. Drivers use a 26-foot straight truck and handle pet food freight described as heavy-touch. The role requires the ability to drive in snow. Ryder provides training on the equipment needed for the job and operates trucks that are 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling available at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. The schedule is Monday through Thursday, with dispatch starting between 4:30 and 5:00 a.m. The position offers $29.00 per hour, 40 or more hours per week, and weekly pay. Drivers may receive $40 per night in per diem for two nights per week, with overnight stays in Ryder-booked hotels. Paid training is provided. Ryder describes its drivers as having autonomy to make safety decisions and support throughout their careers.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including verification of drug and alcohol history from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have verifiable Class A or Class B experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
Be able to drive in snow.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading when required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
