About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class B CDL truck driver in Bethpage, New York. The driver delivers medical supplies on a local route to Philadelphia and returns home daily. This is a solo driving position using a 26-foot straight truck, with touch freight. Ryder provides training on the equipment needed for the role and operates well-maintained trucks that are 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling available at more than 800 maintenance locations.

The position pays $27.31 per hour, with an average weekly pay of $1,315, and includes 48 hours per week and paid training. Schedules are Sunday through Wednesday or Sunday/Monday and Friday/Saturday, with a shift starting at either 2:00 a.m. or 9:00 a.m. Drivers are expected to make safety decisions and perform deliveries, freight handling as required, and related driving duties.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including verification of drug and alcohol history with previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical and Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have verifiable Class A or Class B experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle meeting one of these thresholds: 9 months within the past 3 years, 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
• Meet any additional customer screening, employment or education verification, motor vehicle record, road test, badging, or background requirements applicable to the assigned position.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect, eliminate, or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading when required by the customer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
