About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL truck driver in Hickman, Kentucky, for a solo regional driving role. Drivers deliver freight to Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Kansas, and Iowa. The route uses a sleeper tractor and flatbed trailer and carries building mesh; freight requires load securement only. Drivers are paid weekly, with average weekly earnings of $1,626 or more and top earners averaging $1,850 or more. Pay includes $0.69 per solo mile, $28.75 per solo stop, and $40 per night in per diem. A $3,000 sign-on bonus is paid in two installments: $1,500 at 30 days and $1,500 at 90 days. The schedule is Monday through Friday or Sunday through Thursday, with weekends off. Ryder provides well-maintained trucks that are 36 months old or newer, 24/7 roadside maintenance, and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Drivers receive medical, dental, and vision benefits after 30 days, PTO accrual starting on the first day, uniforms, cell phone and boot allowances, and other listed benefits. Drivers are responsible for making safety decisions, and the posting states that their jobs are protected when they do so.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test, background check, and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical and a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have verifiable Class A experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Responsibilities

Comply with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading if required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
