About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Front Royal, Virginia. This regional, solo driving position delivers no-touch food freight to Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, Connecticut, New York, Maine, Delaware, North Carolina, and New Jersey. Drivers operate sleeper tractors with dry van and reefer 53-foot trailers. Ryder’s trucks are described as well-maintained and 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and access to fueling at more than 800 maintenance locations. The role offers weekly pay averaging $1,595 or more, paid training, a sign-on bonus, and a schedule running Sunday through Friday with no weekends. Start times are between 9:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. Ryder also describes support for company drivers during the transition from owner-operator work and throughout their careers.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including verification of drug and alcohol history with previous employers for the past three years.
Pass a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have Class A verifiable tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle experience: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
Some positions may require additional screening, such as employment and education verification, a motor vehicle records check and road test, or customer badging or background requirements.

Hazmat endorsement preferred.

Responsibilities

Comply with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect, eliminate, or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading when required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
