About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL truck driver for local, solo deliveries within a 130-mile radius of Toledo, Ohio. The route is home daily and carries steel and metal freight requiring load securement only. Drivers use a day-cab tractor and a 48- to 53-foot flatbed trailer. Ryder states its trucks are well-maintained, safe, and 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling available at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations.

The position pays $30.77 per hour, with a minimum weekly guarantee of $1,275 and weekly pay. The posting advertises earnings of $1,461.55 or more per week, plus a quarterly tenure bonus of $300 paid four times a year. Paid training is provided. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with a start time of either 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. or 4:30 p.m. The posting also describes company-driver support during transitions from owner-operator trucks and throughout a driver's career.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have verifiable Class A experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Responsibilities

• Deliver steel and metal freight on local routes within a 130-mile radius of Toledo, Ohio.
• Secure loads; freight handling is described as load securement only.
• Comply with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect, eliminate, or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Load or unload freight, or assist with loading or unloading, if required by the customer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
