About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL truck driver in Wichita, Kansas. The local role involves shuttling equipment between Ryder customer facilities, with no-touch freight consisting of empty trailers for equipment shuttle transfers. Drivers are home daily and are scheduled Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 AM. The listed pay is $20.00 per hour, with an estimated $600 per week based on a 30-hour week, paid weekly.

Drivers operate well-maintained, safe trucks that are 36 months old or newer. The position includes 24/7 roadside maintenance support and access to fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Ryder also describes support for company drivers during transitions from owner-operator trucks and throughout their careers.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have verifiable Class A experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
• Some assignments may require additional screening, such as employment and education verification, motor vehicle records checks, road tests, or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a commercial vehicle while complying with safety and DOT regulations.
• Complete continuous training and provide customer service.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
