About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL truck driver in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, for local routes within a 150-mile radius. The position delivers US Mail freight by tailgate, with drivers operating solo and returning home daily. Equipment includes day-cab tractors, 53-foot dry vans, pallet jacks, and rolling carts; Ryder provides training on the equipment needed for the role. Trucks are well-maintained and 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. The position pays $30.00 per hour plus a $6.11-per-hour health and wellness stipend, with an average of 40 hours per week and weekly pay. Paid training is provided. The operation runs seven days a week, with one to two days off per week; shift start times range from 12:45 a.m. to 11:45 p.m., depending on route assignment. A $3,000 sign-on bonus is paid in two installments: $1,500 at 30 days and $1,500 at 90 days. Employment on this account requires meeting Ryder’s employment requirements and USPS screening requirements. The USPS requires a Federal Level 2 secondary background screen for access to premises or contractual services, and Selective Service registration for males born after December 31, 1959, unless legally exempt.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have verifiable Class A experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
Meet USPS account requirements, including a Federal Level 2 secondary background screen and, for males born after December 31, 1959, Selective Service registration unless legally exempt.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading when required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
