About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL truck driver in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. This local, home-daily position delivers steel products solo to Ohio, New York, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. Drivers operate a day-cab tractor with 48- and 53-foot flatbed trailers. Load securement involves strapping all loads and tarping in wet weather. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with occasional Sunday work, and drivers must be flexible to cover morning and afternoon shifts. The position pays $30 per hour, with overtime after 40 hours per week, and offers a $1,200 annual tenure bonus. Paid training is provided. Ryder trucks are described as well-maintained, safe, and 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Drivers are expected to make safety decisions, comply with applicable laws and regulations, identify and minimize hazards, maintain accurate records, and load or unload freight or assist with those tasks when required by the customer. Other duties may be assigned. Applicants must meet Ryder’s screening requirements, including a drug test, background and motor vehicle checks, DOT physical, and road test.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical and Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have verifiable Class A experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
Be flexible to cover morning and afternoon shifts.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading when required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
