About The Position

Esse Health is seeking a part-time Telephone Triage Nurse RN for its Tesson Ferry Pediatrics office at 13303 Tesson Ferry Road. The role assesses and manages patient concerns by phone, including triaging symptoms, consulting with providers, returning calls, and providing nursing advice. It may also provide direct patient-care support as needed. The position is scheduled 2–3 days per week, 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., plus one Saturday morning per month. There are no evening or holiday shifts. This is an outpatient clinical practice role and is not benefit eligible unless minimum hours worked are met, as applicable to offered benefits. Requirements

Formal training, likely demonstrated by graduation from an accredited RN school of nursing.
Current Missouri state nursing licensure.
CPR certification.
PC/Windows proficiency.
Ability to communicate effectively and work compatibly with physicians, coworkers, and employees in other departments.
Willingness to prioritize patient comfort and satisfaction.

Responsibilities

Assess and triage patient calls, consulting physicians or following established protocols.
Obtain detailed illness histories and identify the severity of patient concerns.
Provide nursing advice and respond appropriately to potential emergencies.
Make follow-up calls and document communications promptly.
Educate and counsel patients and families by phone, including providing home-care guidance.
Document patient interactions clearly and consistently in the NextGen EMR system.
Obtain and relay laboratory and x-ray results to providers, and explain findings to patients.
Order prescriptions and refills according to protocol and notify patients.
Communicate regularly with providers about patient issues and concerns.
Attend and participate actively in departmental meetings.
Perform clinical office duties as needed, including patient preparation, injections, laboratory collections, and procedures.
Follow infection-control policies for handling and disposing of hazardous materials.
Coordinate care by obtaining test and referral results and following up on missed appointments.
Communicate with health plans, providers, and community resources to support patient care.
Refer patients to the Care Management team when barriers to care are identified.
Follow standing orders approved by Esse Health physicians.
Use evidence-based medicine protocols, especially when caring for high-risk and vulnerable populations.
Use gaps-in-care data to engage and support patients.
Maintain a positive office image and a welcoming, upbeat manner with patients and coworkers.
