Traveling Field Installation Specialist
About The Position
We are seeking a Traveling Field Installation Specialist to support the rollout of new technology for a major global organization. The role combines field installation knowledge, customer interaction, and job-site coordination. The specialist helps ensure each location is prepared, the right people are scheduled, and equipment is installed and operating properly; the role does not require personally performing every installation. Extensive training on the specific equipment and installation process will be provided. The position involves approximately 60–80% nationwide travel, primarily during the workweek. A typical assignment may include flying to a customer location on Monday, conducting site surveys or coordinating installations Tuesday and Wednesday, and returning home Wednesday or Thursday. Most workdays are approximately eight hours, with occasional additional hours depending on travel and installation schedules. Candidates in the Greenville, South Carolina area are preferred for onboarding, training, and team coordination.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of relevant field installation, equipment deployment, or installation coordination experience.
- Experience working at customer locations and understanding the steps involved in completing an installation.
- Ability to communicate professionally with customers, contractors, and internal teams.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage schedules, details, and documentation.
- Comfort working around outdoor equipment, construction activities, and installation crews.
- Ability to recognize potential installation issues and communicate them to the appropriate people.
- Basic computer skills for email, scheduling, reports, and documentation.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively.
- Willingness to learn new equipment, procedures, and technology.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience coordinating installation crews, performing site surveys, or assisting with equipment commissioning.
- Experience in cable television, broadband, fiber-optic, or satellite dish installation; electronic signage or digital displays; concrete installation, site preparation, or outdoor construction; security cameras, access control, or low-voltage equipment; telecommunications or wireless technology; commercial equipment installation, maintenance, or field service; or electrical equipment installation or similar customer-site field work.
- Candidates in the Greenville, South Carolina area are preferred.
Responsibilities
- Travel to customer locations throughout the United States to evaluate sites and prepare for equipment installations.
- Perform site surveys, take measurements, document existing conditions, and identify installation requirements.
- Communicate with customers about equipment placement, site accessibility, scheduling, and installation needs.
- Coordinate with installation contractors, technicians, and other field personnel to ensure work is completed as planned.
- Be onsite during installations to answer questions, coordinate activities, and keep work moving.
- Assist with equipment startup, testing, and commissioning to verify successful installation.
- Document site visits, installation progress, outstanding items, and completed work.
- Communicate with internal teams and customers about schedules, site readiness, and installation status.
- Help resolve unexpected field issues in coordination with technical teams and contractors.
