About The Position

This is a travel Registered Nurse assignment in an Adolescent Behavioral Health Inpatient setting in Trenton, New Jersey. The role involves providing direct nursing care to adolescent patients, conducting clinical assessments, monitoring safety, and contributing to care planning. The nurse will respond to crises using de-escalation techniques, float between MH and MST units as needed, and collaborate with treatment teams. Responsibilities include administering medications, documenting care in the Cerner EMR, participating in rounds and handoffs, and supporting patients and families through education and discharge planning.

Requirements

Minimum 2 years of inpatient mental health experience.
CPI certification required by the document deadline.
BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications required for the floating portion of the assignment.
Ability to float between MH and MST units as needed.
Cerner EMR experience or willingness to learn and use Cerner for documentation.
Availability for every other weekend and every other holiday as part of the rotation.

Responsibilities

Provide direct nursing care to adolescent patients within an inpatient behavioral health program.
Conduct clinical assessments, monitor safety, and contribute to ongoing care planning; respond to crises using de-escalation techniques.
Float from MH unit to MST units as needed and collaborate with treatment teams to coordinate care.
Administer prescribed medications, monitor therapeutic effects, and report adverse events per protocol.
Document all care accurately in the Cerner EMR; participate in rounds, handoffs, and interdisciplinary communication.
Support patients and families through education, discharge planning, and coordination with the broader care team.
