Travel Fleet Technician (Diesel, Gas, Equipment Mechanic)
About The Position
Amerit Fleet Solutions is hiring a traveling fleet technician/mechanic with automotive, diesel, or equipment experience for its Poca, West Virginia location. The role involves maintaining and repairing fleet vehicles, diagnosing problems, documenting work, and coordinating schedules with drivers and managers. Travel is required along the East Coast, including overnight and occasional weekend travel. When not traveling, normal work is at the Poca location, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with schedule flexibility required. The posting lists pay as $38.00–$45.00 per hour in the position summary and $35.00–$45.00 per hour in the pay section, based on experience, with weekly pay.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience performing automotive vehicle maintenance and repairs.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to own and maintain the personal tools and toolbox required for the role.
- Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness and ability to meet the physical demands of the position.
- Must be eligible to pass standard pre-employment screenings, including a drug screen and DOT physical if required.
- Must be flexible with the schedule and willing and able to travel on the East Coast, including overnight and some weekend travel.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on light- to medium-duty fleet vehicles.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues.
- Conduct inspections to ensure vehicles meet safety and compliance standards.
- Accurately document repairs and complete work orders.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including tools and equipment.
- Follow safety procedures and company policies.
- Collaborate with supervisors and team members to support fleet operations.
- Create repair orders and coordinate schedules with drivers and managers.
