About The Position

Vulcan Materials Company is hiring a Diesel Fleet Mechanic to service, repair, adjust, maintain, and test Concrete Ready Mix Trucks and support equipment. The role includes performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting equipment defects, completing repairs, and documenting work orders accurately. The mechanic works safely in accordance with MSHA and company standards, communicates with personnel about vehicle maintenance, and maintains an organized work area. The job may also involve other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Previous experience in the mechanical field is required.
• Ability to read memos and instructions and communicate verbally with coworkers to solve problems.
• Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, and understanding basic units of measurement.
• Willingness to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands.
• Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and tolerate loud noises.
• Ability to perform physical activities including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

Nice To Haves

• MED HVY Truck ASE Certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize safety and follow MSHA, company, lockout/tagout, and environmental rules and procedures.
• Service, repair, adjust, maintain, and test Concrete Ready Mix Trucks and support equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance, including lubrication, adjustments, failure analysis, and corrective repairs.
• Repair hydraulic hoses, lighting, brakes, suspension, and air-conditioning systems.
• Inspect mobile equipment, troubleshoot errors, diagnose defects, and make necessary repairs.
• Create legible and accurate work orders documenting repairs and services performed.
• Communicate with personnel to support proper, safe, and preventative vehicle maintenance.
• Use equipment such as cutting torches, air and hand tools, jacks, grinders, and drill presses.
• Perform physical activities including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
