Diesel Fleet Mechanic
About The Position
Swift is hiring a Diesel Fleet Mechanic to help maintain and repair its company-owned fleet, including tractors, trailers, refrigerated units, and support equipment. The role performs preventative maintenance to OEM, DOT, Swift, and other applicable specifications, as well as inspections, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repairs ranging from minor to complex. Mechanics also disassemble, repair, and reassemble heavy truck and trailer components and perform tire maintenance. The position is based at 2201 SW 57th Ave, Ocala, Florida 34474, and is scheduled Tuesday through Saturday, 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pay is $22.00–$33.00 per hour. Swift offers hands-on OEM training with manufacturers including Freightliner, International, Volvo, Cummins, and Detroit, along with opportunities for career growth and advancement. The company describes its larger fleet as including more than 13,000 trucks, 60,000 trailers, 12,000 company drivers, and over 700 Fleet Technicians.
Requirements
- High school education or a combination of training and/or experience is required.
- A driver's license is required.
- Demonstrated or proven superior customer service skills.
- Ability to read and understand repair manuals and complete or fill out tags and repair orders.
- Ability to use and learn diagnostic software used on tractors and trailers.
- Computer skills.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of vehicle systems and basic vehicle maintenance is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Complete quality preventative maintenance inspections and repairs on company-owned tractors, trailers, refrigerated units, and support equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance to applicable OEM, DOT, Swift, and other specifications.
- Inspect, analyze, troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform minor or complex repairs on equipment.
- Disassemble, repair, and reassemble heavy truck and trailer components.
- Perform tire maintenance, including repairs, failure analysis, coding, and identification.
