About The Position

The Trauma Registrar works in the Trauma Department at Texas Health Azle, which provides definitive trauma care in a fast-paced, relaxed, and team-oriented environment. The department is on the frontline of life-threatening injuries, delivering rapid, coordinated, and specialized care. This is a PRN day position.

The role requires chart auditing, quality improvement, data entry, and the ability to obtain and analyze trauma-related data using resources from other institutions and physician offices. The position also calls for familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, disease processes, and statistics.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience with chart auditing, quality improvement, and data entry.
• Working knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes.
• Familiarity with statistics and the ability to analyze and draw inferences from statistical data.
• Positive interpersonal and communication skills.
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with computers and understanding of medical terminology.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree in Health Information or a related field.
• Associate degree in ATS or completion of an equivalent Trauma Registrar Course.
• Associate degree in an AAAM injury coding course.
• 1 year of medical records experience.
• Trauma Registrar Certification upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Audit charts and support quality improvement activities.
• Enter data and obtain and analyze trauma-related data, including by using resources from other institutions and physician offices.
