About The Position

The Trauma Intervention Specialist (TIS) is a key member of the team providing comprehensive social services support and long-term interventions that result in mental and emotional wellbeing in addition to the medical care to support physical wellbeing to victims of violent injury. The TIS is responsible for engaging youth and young adults (ages 14-30) who were treated at JEH or referred by a community partner after suffering a violent injury. The TIS is expected to conduct all visits in a trauma-informed manner and to model effective ways of engaging with resources to support healing. This job requires a significant amount of community work and a willingness to engage with a diverse range of neighborhoods in Philadelphia. The primary role of the TIS is to assist in engaging with clients during their involvement with TIP and to guide their treatment and recovery through the program.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or Family Therapy
  • At least 1 year of experience in a therapeutic setting

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant licensure (LSW, LCSW, LPC, LMFT) in Pennsylvania

Responsibilities

  • Use of trauma-focused therapeutic modalities, including relational therapy, SELF, motivational interviewing, CBT, and mindfulness
  • Sensitivity to and compassion for the diverse experiences of individuals who have experienced traumatic events
  • Demonstration of professional boundaries/ethics and respect for client’s rights and responsibilities
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care principles and practice
