About The Position

NewYork-Presbyterian Transporters help create a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for patients and their families. The role involves escorting patients throughout the hospital with compassion and courtesy, responding promptly to their needs and inquiries, building relationships, and providing attentive customer service while prioritizing patient comfort and safety. Transporters move patients from nursing units to hospital departments and make pickups and deliveries of Medical Records, lab specimens, pharmacy items, and other equipment. The role may also involve changing oxygen tanks and applying oxygen regulators to conveyance vehicles. This is a part-time day-shift position at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens in Flushing, New York. The shift includes weekdays, weekends, and holidays, and weekend work is required during the first two years. Registration with the 1199 Job Security Fund is required.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Ability to follow simple directions.
Registration with the 1199 Job Security Fund.
Availability to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays; weekends are required for the first two years.

Nice To Haves

Some previous experience in food service is desirable.
Extensive customer service experience and a desire to Put Patients First.
Experience in the hotel, restaurant, or retail industry.

Responsibilities

Escort patients to areas throughout the hospital in a courteous and compassionate manner.
Respond politely and promptly to patients’ needs and inquiries.
Build relationships with patients and their families and provide superior customer service.
Ensure patient comfort and safety during transport.
Transport patients from nursing units to various hospital departments.
Make pickups and deliveries of Medical Records, lab specimens, pharmacy items, and other equipment.
Change oxygen tanks and apply oxygen regulators on conveyance vehicles as needed.
