Transportation Operations Manager II
About The Position
The Transportation Operations Manager II manages outbound transportation processes, carrier relationships, delivery management, and vendor compliance for the outbound parcel transportation network. The role coordinates logistics activities, partners with fulfillment center associates, communicates with third-party logistics providers, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to improve processes and support business needs across the Walmart and Sam’s Club fulfillment networks. It also involves enabling transportation strategies and managing and launching new fulfillment centers in the country for outbound transportation. The position requires flexibility to adapt the schedule to business needs, including nights and weekends. A 12-month commitment is required for a new launch, beginning after the first outbound ship/go-live date; operational fulfillment centers require a 12-month commitment beginning on the first official day in the role.
Requirements
- Experience managing carrier relationships and order execution.
- Strong analytical skills for data review and trend analysis.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of compliance and company policies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field and 3 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, business, or a related field; alternatively, 5 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, business, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
- A 12-month commitment is required for a new launch, starting after the first outbound ship/go-live date; operational fulfillment centers require a 12-month commitment from the first official day in the role.

Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
- Support plans and initiatives that meet customer and business needs; identify and communicate goals and objectives; build accountability; and measure progress.
- Identify and address improvement opportunities, demonstrate adaptability, and promote continuous learning.
- Manage local carrier relationships and order execution.
- Review carrier metrics and KPIs to ensure on-time delivery and performance goals are met, and communicate insights and opportunities to management.
- Ensure orders are processed, loaded, shipped, and routed correctly to meet customer expectations.
- Analyze trailer utilization and conduct load and route planning to reduce freight costs.
- Develop insights and report on delivery and service metrics across a region.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and support the company’s mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.
- Develop and implement policy and procedure changes; review vendor scorecards; identify improvement areas; and support vendor improvement programs.
- Perform trend analyses and develop insights to identify operational issues and improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain, Fulfillment Center Management, and other cross-functional teams.
- Assist in developing and continuously iterating standard work.
- Collaborate on root cause analysis for service- and transportation-related defects.
- Manage and launch new fulfillment centers in the country for outbound transportation.
- Adapt the work schedule to business needs, including nights and weekends.
