Transportation Management Center (TMC) Operator
About The Position
GFT is seeking a part-time Transportation Management Center (TMC) Operator to join our Practice or CBG Team in Chipley, FL! This role follows an on-site work model, requiring regular attendance at our Chipley, FL office. We are currently offering the following positions for qualified candidates to fill current needs: Full-Time (40 hours a week/with benefits, flexible shifts). Help keep Florida moving. As a TMC Operator at GFT, you’ll be on the front lines of real-time traffic operations—using advanced technology, live video, and direct coordination with DOT teams to keep drivers safe and informed 24/7.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to multitask and stay sharp under pressure
- Flexibility for varied schedules and on-call needs
Nice To Haves
- Experience with dispatching, traffic systems, or fast-paced monitoring environments
- Familiarity with local DOT roadways or background in public safety/transportation
Responsibilities
- Monitor roadway conditions using CCTV, traffic data, and apps like Waze and Google Traffic
- Detect incidents quickly and coordinate response with DOT, law enforcement, and field crews
- Dispatch maintenance teams for urgent and routine roadway needs
- Update Variable and Dynamic Message Signs to inform travelers in real time
- Verify traveler information across DOT platforms
- Track closures, hotspots, work zones, and equipment issues
