Transportation Logistics Specialist
About The Position
The Transportation Logistics Specialist supports the coordination and execution of freight and delivery activities. Reporting to the Transportation & Logistics Supervisor, the Specialist plans shipments, tracks deliveries, manages shipping documentation, and communicates with carriers and internal stakeholders. The role requires attention to detail, organization, and a service-oriented approach to support smooth, safe, timely, and cost-effective transportation operations while meeting compliance and safety standards. The Specialist works with the logistics team and internal departments to support deliveries and transportation processes.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1–3 years of experience in a transportation, shipping, or logistics support role.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- A service-oriented mindset.
- Work a sufficient schedule to meet the expectations of the role.
Nice To Haves
- Associate’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- 2 or more years of experience in a transportation, shipping, or logistics support role.
- Experience using Transportation Management Systems (TMS) or ERP software.
- Knowledge of shipping documentation and freight terminology.
- Familiarity with DOT and safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Support daily transportation operations, including load planning, scheduling, and shipment tracking.
- Communicate with carriers and vendors to confirm shipping arrangements and provide updates.
- Enter and maintain accurate shipment data in TMS or ERP systems.
- Prepare and process shipping documentation, including bills of lading, manifests, and delivery receipts.
- Monitor shipments in transit and assist with resolving delays or exceptions.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements related to transportation and safety.
- Coordinate with procurement, customer service, materials, and other internal departments to support timely deliveries.
- Assist in compiling reports and performance metrics.
- Identify and report process improvement or cost reduction opportunities.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
