By joining our Traffic Engineering and Permits Section as a Transportation Engineer I in Jefferson County, you’ll have the opportunity to work with complex engineering components for all aspects of roadway projects, including roadway to design, assessment of impacts to roadway safety, and roadway operations.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification.
  • Must be licensed as a professional engineer by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors OR must be licensed in another state with the ability to obtain a Professional Engineering license from the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors within the employee's initial six month probationary period.
  • Engineering decisions recommended by individuals without a Kentucky Professional Engineering License must be approved by a KRS Chapter 322 Licensed Professional Engineer until licensure is obtained.
  • Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee activities of engineering projects
  • Approve engineering documents as a Licensed Professional Engineer
  • Make recommendations to consultants concerning the design of transportation facilities
  • Interpret and draft professional and technical papers and reports
  • Apply federal rules and regulations
